YWS is an emergency residence and referral agency serving homeless youth.
Services Provided:
High school credit courses. One-on-one support.
Youth Programs Offered:
Offers training and support to help current and former residents develop important life skills. Training covers everything from talking and getting along with others, to grocery shopping, cooking, meal planning, eating healthy, personal hygiene, time management, budgeting, and handling money. The goal is to give people the skills and support they need to live independently and successfully.
Delivers mental health services to address various needs youth have. Youth are provided with individual psychotherapy, diagnostic and psychosocial assessments, support for ODSP applications, and connecting youth with external resources.
Offers 20-bed long-term transitional housing for youth dedicated to completing their education.
Offers emergency accommodation for up to 33 youth each night. The program meets the immediate needs of the youth by providing them with crisis counselling, safe shelter, nutritious food, new clothing, and hygiene products.
Focuses on placing each youth into stable, affordable housing and aims to prevent relapse back into homelessness. Helping youth find and keep permanent, affordable housing by developing relationships with landlords, assisting in housing searches and various housing applications, and teaching them the skills needed for them to live independently in society.
